Meet the Authors

The celebration of National Library Week is coming to Campbellsville in the form of a Meet the Authors event at the Taylor County Public Library April 13. This event is free and open to the public.

Three novelists, including Campbellsville resident and USA Today bestselling romance and young adult author Trish Milburn, will take part in a panel discussion/question-and-answer session and sign copies of their books. Milburn, as well as romantic adventure author Monica McCabe and cozy mystery author Misty Simon, will also be providing giveaways that all attendees will have a chance to win. Snacks will also be available to enjoy during the program.

“I’m thrilled to be taking part in this event because books and libraries have been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember,” Milburn said. “They are a place of not only learning but also of camaraderie and sometimes solace and escape. I truly believe there is something beneficial in libraries and books for every single person, whether they are a student, a young mother balancing childrearing with work and all of life’s other tasks, a worker wanting information about changing careers or simply someone looking for a good story or event to take their mind off tough times. Libraries are essential to strong communities and everyone in those communities, no matter their education level, socioeconomic status, race or any of the other ways humans can be divided.”

Milburn is the author of more than 50 romance and young adult novels for Harlequin Books, Tule Publishing, Penguin Razorbill, Bell Bridge Books and via independent publishing. Among these are the Jade Valley, Wyoming, and Blue Falls, Texas, cowboy/western-set romances and the Idol in Love series set in the world of K-pop music.

McCabe, a resident of Tennessee and a lover of adventure travel, is the author of the Jewel Intrigue series of international suspense and adventure.

Simon, who lives in Pennsylvania, has authored more than 30 books in several series, including the Tallie Graver mysteries and the Whit and Whiskers mystery series written as Gabby Allan.

“I am so excited for our Meet the Authors event at Taylor County Public Library," said Kim Barbee, president of the Friends of the Taylor County Public Library. "When we pick up a book, we seldom think we will have the opportunity to meet the person who wrote it. This is our chance to do that without having to make a trip to Louisville or Lexington and it's free!

The theme for this year’s National Library Week, April 7-13, is Ready, Set, Library! According to the National Library Association, which sponsors the event, this theme “promotes the idea that in our always-online world, libraries give us a green light to something truly special: a place to connect with others, learn new skills, and focus on what matters most. Find your crew at your library’s author talks, workshops and book clubs. No matter where you find yourself on the roadmap through life’s journey—preparing for a new career, launching a business or raising a family—your library provides an inclusive and supportive community where everyone belongs.”

Meet the Authors, hosted by the Friends of the Taylor County Public Library, is free to the public. It will take place April 13, 10 a.m.–1 p.m., in the library’s community room. The library is located at 1316 East Broadway St. in Campbellsville. No sign up required.
