Employment Opportunity: Full-Time Circulation Desk Clerk at Taylor County Public Library

Taylor County Public Library is seeking a friendly, customer-focused Circulation Desk Clerk to join our team. This full-time position plays a key role in creating a welcoming environment for patrons, managing front-desk operations, and supporting the library’s daily activities.

Position Summary:
The Circulation Desk Clerk is responsible for maintaining patron accounts, performing front desk and circulation services, assisting with technology and computer needs, and supporting the overall organization and appearance of the library. Positive, professional customer service is essential.

Requirements & Benefits

• Full-time, 40 hours per week
• Ability to obtain necessary certification or training
• High School Diploma required
• Customer service experience preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• $13.00 per hour
• Health insurance and PTO included
• Participation in CERS KY Public Pension Authority (County Employees Retirement System)

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Use Atriuum ILS to check materials in/out and assist with catalog searches
• Process purchases using Square Reader
• Answer, direct, and transfer phone calls; provide routine information to patron
• Provide patient, friendly customer service, including help with locating materials, reader’s advisory,
  computer assistance, and information about services or events
• Assist patrons with reading recommendations
• Monitor patron behavior to ensure a safe and respectful library environment
• Maintain the appearance of main library areas, including cleaning, shelving, shelf-reading, straightening,
  and decorating
