1000 BBK

Are you ready to take the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge? We're excited to offer this Kindergarten Readiness program to all children under Kindergarten age in Taylor County! Here's how to get started:

  1. Stop by the library and talk to a librarian in the Children's Room about getting a registration packet. Fill out the information, and take the packet home as it contains your 1000 Books Reading Logs.
  2. Have your child (or children) get their picture smiles ready! We'll take their photo and place it on the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Wall. Each time they complete a log of 100 books, they can come in for a sticker and to move their photo.
  3. When your child (or children) complete their 1000 Books, they will receive a Certificate of Completion from the library as well as a small prize.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What if we read the same book three times in a row? How many times can we count it?

A: You can count each book as many times as you'd like. So, if you read the same book three times in a row, count it as three books!

Q: My child spends their days with a caregiver or at daycare. Can I count the books read while in childcare as well?

A: Absolutely! No matter who reads to your child, you're welcome to count it.

Q: I have a small infant. How old should they be before we start this challenge?

A: The earlier the better! We have some families who have completed the 1000 Books challenge and have started all over again, aiming for 2000 books!
