Play Dough Play Day

Thursday, July 27 @ 2:00 PM

TCPL Kids' Room

Join us for the SLIME edition of Play Dough Play Day! We will have regular play dough available, and will also give kids the opportunity to make SLIME using glue, baking soda, and contact solution.

Unlike some recipes that we've tried throughout the summer, this SLIME recipe is cheap, easy, and most importantly: it works! We bet you have the ingredients to do it at home! Take a look and try it out, if you dare!

Please note: This recipe does not use Borax, so it is safe for kids to play with!

Elmer's Recipe for Colored Slime (Click here for Elmer's website)

Supplies Needed:
1/2 Tbsp baking soda
1 Tbsp contact lens solution
4 fl oz. Elmer's White school glue
Your choice of food coloring (optional)

1. Pour out the entire bottle of a 4 oz Elmer's School Glue into a bowl.
2. Add 1/2 Tbsp baking soda and mix thoroughly.
3. After mixing, add your choice of food coloring until you get the color you want.
4. Add 1 Tbsp of contact lens solution.
5. Mix, mix, mix, until mixture gets harder to mix and slime begins to form.
6. Take the slime out and begin kneading with both of your hands.
7. If needed, add 1/4 Tbsp of contact solution to make the slime less sticky.

*Adult supervision if required; this project is not appropriate for children under the age of 3 years. Always wash your hands before and after making and playing with slime. Warning: If large quantities of contact lens solution are accidentally ingested (greater than a tablespoon), get medical attention immediately.
